Lake Trafford Ecological Restoration Project

The University of Florida is involved in two aspects of the restoration project: 1) continuous monitoring of lake water quality, and  2) development of a Field Trip Curriculum for 8th grade science students in Collier County and Southwest Florida.

Lake Trafford Water Quality

Two continuous long-term water quality monitoring probes have been installed at Lake Trafford.  These probes will continuously monitor the lake water quality before, during and after removal of the sediment.  This will document improvement in water quality. The water quality probes are YSI datasondes. They are currently mounted at the Lake Trafford County Park pier

The surface sonde is a YSI 6600 which measures temperature, pH, specific conductivity, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, and chlorophyll.

The bottom sonde is a YSI6000 which measures temperature, pH, specific conductivity, dissolved oxygen, oxidation/reduction potential, and turbidity.

The water quality data will be posted as it becomes available.

Water quality data for 22 August - 12 Oct.
