2006 Farm Safety Day a Success

Nearly 150 farm workers and managers participated in the 16th Annual Southwest Florida Farm Safety Day on Saturday, June 3, at the UF/IFAS Southwest Florida Research & Education Center in Immokalee. The event included four concurrent educational sessions in the morning, followed by lunch and a tractor rodeo contest in the afternoon.

Platinum sponsors of the event were Chemtura, Collier County Parks and Recreation, and Everglades Farm Equipment. Gold sponsors were Citrus Producers, Inc., Ranch One Cooperative, Inc., and T & M Portable Restrooms, Inc. Silver sponsors were Aglime Sales, Inc., Bob Paul, Inc., Bayer CropScience, Creel Tractor Company, and Farm Credit of Southwest Florida. In addition, the following Immokalee-area businesses donated gift cards and other prizes for drawings that took place throughout the day:
