Marsh Grapefruit

Marsh Grapefruit

Type and parentage: Grapefruit
Average diameter (inches): 3 1/2 - 4 1/2
Seeds per fruit: 0-6
Commercial harvest season: November-May

Marsh was the most widely grown grapefruit variety in Florida until recently when the pink and red selections gained prominence. However, it retains its popularity in the domestic and export fresh market. The fruit is commercially seedless and has a pale yellow flesh and a large open cavity in the fruit center. It remains the major grapefruit variety for processing.

Selections available at the Immokalee Foundation:
M-S-F-57-4-X-E: Originated from closed pollinations by Dr. Mort Cohen selections from the UF campus grove near the Century Tower. Vigorous trees and excellent producers. Fruit size and shape typical of the variety.
