Sunburst Tangerine

Sunburst Tangerine

Type and parentage: Tangerine hybrid (Robinson X Osceola)
Average diameter (inches): 2 1/2 - 3
Seeds per fruit: 1-20
Commercial harvest season: November - December

A relatively recent release, Sunburst is classified as a tangerine for marketing purposes. This variety requires cross pollination by Temple, Orlando, Minneola, Nova, or Fallglo. The highly colored fruit ripens after Robinson but earlier than Dancy and ships better than both. Foliage and twigs are highly susceptible to environmental stress and citrus rust mite damage. Premature defoliation can result in extreme cases. Careful monitoring of mite populations is therefore essential.
