Minneola Tangelo

Minneola Tangelo

Type and parentage: Tangelo (Duncan X Dancy)
Average diameter (inches): 3 - 3 1/2
Seeds per fruit: 7-12
Commercial harvest season: December - February

This well sized fruit with characteristic flavor often exhibits a prominent neck at the stem end. It is a good late season tangelo popular in the gift trade. Fruit production is enhanced by cross pollination with Temple, Sunburst, of Fallglo. It is susceptible to Alternartia brown spot and scab fungus diseases. Trees have proved to be extremely cold hardy.

Selections available at the Immokalee Foundation:

MI/TA-S-F-60-5-X-E: Originated from open pollinated seedlings at the Glen St. Mary Nursery in Dundee (Polk County). Typical traits generally associated with Minneola tangelos.
